Olive was away for my birthday this year, so before she left, my sister, Lizzie, had her answer a few questions about her soon-to-be-32-year-old mom. Lizzie [AKA Aunt Loulie] noted that she conducted the entire interview while Olive was jumping on her bed. (That’s pretty standard though, yes?)
Behold, in its glory. A peek into the mind of my three-year-old as it pertains to her mother.
Q: What is your mummy’s favourite food?
A: Uhhh…I think salad?Q: What do you love best about your mummy?
A:I really like hugging her actually… I said HUGGING!Q: What is your mummy’s job?
A: She just writes. [I am in love with the wording of this. I imagine she said it with a resigned sigh. “Hhhhhh. She just WRITES. Laura’s mom is a DOCTOR, but mine just writes.”]Q: What is your favourite food?
A: My favourite food is sushi, I love sushi and bacon and chicken and scrambled eggs and lollipops.Q: Do you think your mummy is funny?
A: Yes, she makes good jokes! [She’s not wrong. Especially since knock-knock jokes are the best around these parts lately.]Q: Who is funnier, you or your mummy?
A: Me! [also accurate]Q: Who is a better cook, Aunt Loulie or your mummy?
A: I think Aunt Loulie is the best cook. [TREASON! At such a young age! I’m heartbroken. Cold canned soup until morale improves.]Q: What is your mummy the best at?
A: Writing actually, and taking care of me. [Heavy sobbing. She sees me! She knows me like no other! All is forgiven, sweet child! Tonight we feast on homemade macaroni and cheese!]Q: What do you want to say to your mummy on her birthday?
A: That I love her! A LOT! [unintelligible weeping]

She is such a lovely little girl!
Thank you so much, Charlotte!
That is adorable! Great mental picture with bed jumping, too! I wonder if your knock knock jokes are as good as mine. All I do is name every fruit I’ve ever heard of and my toddler is hysterical. I feel like a famous comedian or something. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!
Hahaha! I’ve so far been limiting myself to ACTUAL jokes…I completely forgot that I could probably just say BUTTS and she’d die laughing! Well played. Well played.
(And thanks for the bday wishes!)
I love this! What a sweetheart!
I was over the moon this weekend because my 15-month old finally HUGGED me. He always hugs my husband, but I always get snuggles (I’ll take ’em) and a hand down my shirt. Kids, I tell ya.
[…] Loulie) sat down with Olive and asked her a few questions about me. She did one of these for my birthday last year, too, and they’ve quickly become my favourite thing ever. It’s fascinating to see you […]
