Oh, good for you!
Have you guys ever used a baby wipe? They’re filled with strange chemicals and powerful fragrances, and they are literally quite irritating. Cloth wipes eliminate a bunch of waste and are gentler on your baby, too. If you’re already doing cloth diapers it’s kind of a no-brainer.
Water will work fine and it’s what we tend to use when we’re out and about, since I lost our portable wipe solution bottle. At home we use a solution made up of the following:
- 1 cup water (I like to boil it and cool it before using, to make sure it’s sterile)
- 1 tsp olive or other cooking oil
- 1 tsp aloe vera
- 1 tsp Dr Bronner’s Castile Soap
Mix it all together and you have an easy baby wipe solution that cleans, moisturizes and soothes baby’s bum. The oil will rise to the top, so just shake it before use.
We keep it on our change table in a pump-top bottle (a well-washed hand soap bottle works great for this 🙂
