Yes, and no. I think the answer depends on where in Canada you find yourself.
I never understood where the typical Canadian “accent” stereotype came from, with all of the “eh’s” and those long o’s (Seriously, what’s that all aboot?!” )
Then we became friends with this lovely couple from Manitoba, (Hi, Brodie and Jelisa!).
Their accent would peek our every now and then, but when they drank holy shit- Canadians, eh?
It all made sense.
I don’t say eh, but I do say “hey” as a way of punctuating questions, as in, “It’s gorgeous out today, hey?”
Maybe that’s the same thing?
